ABOUT US

We're a husband and wife team -

It's crazy that we started doing this when we were just out of college and it's been the only life we've ever known, now 15+ years later and we still love it. I know many people will tell you it would drive them crazy to work with their spouses but it works for us. I do the editing, she does the emailing and you'll have us both there photographing your wedding day. We met ironically, at a wedding, and fell for one another pretty fast. About a year later we were married, she hired herself, and we’ve been doing this full-time ever since.
Over and over again the notes we get from our clients describe us as making them feel calm and confident on their wedding days and I think that is for two main reasons.
1. After more than 15 years and hundreds of weddings we have seen every potential problem that can happen and we know how to work around them to still deliver images that meet our creative goals. Weddings are once-in-a-lifetime unrepeatable events and when you hire us we want you to know we’re there for you as problem solvers and creative minds that will always find a way to make beautiful work.
2. The second way we make things easy is that we’re very efficient at getting what we need. It never pays to rush but when you don’t waste time the day is always more enjoyable often it allows us more opportunities because it opens up time to try new ideas and witness real moments. Some of our favorite portraits were ideas that came up just because we finished the standard family/bridal/post-ceremony portraits with time to spare and we had that time for creative ideas.
Aside from that, our experience means that you can trust us to be there with you to help throughout the day to make your photographs go from good to outstanding meaning that you can lean on us to make sure your photos look polished but natural and that the key moments of your day can be unscripted because we’re ready at every turn to catch true expressions.
What we need from you is hopefully easy: to focus on having the best day of your life so we can capture unscripted, authentic, moments and create jaw-dropping portraits by directing you naturally and with attention to detail making images that feel right, beautiful, and meaningful.

About Joe:

I first picked up a "real" camera when I was just 10 years old and fell pretty hard from that moment forward. I can honestly say there hasn't been a day since that photography hasn't been a part of my everyday life. A few years later in college, I began my career in photography as a newspaper photojournalist covering everything from college football to political campaigns but in my early 20's I fell hard for weddings because I really love how meaningful the images are to families, not just now but generations into the future. Now hundreds of weddings later I still love being there with you because there is nothing I love more than a perfect image of a once-in-a-lifetime moment.
Things I'm passionate about:
  • Travel photography, especially national parks. Stephanie and I love traveling and have been to about 40 of our N.P.s and we'll see them all before we're done (Anyone getting married in a national park? It would be a bucket list deal for me and I'll make worth your while!)
  • Visiting bookstores with my daughter, the more famous or obscure the better
  • Golf, especially playing with my very competitive son
  • Almost anything when it comes to the art and history of photography, I also love teaching others both the art and science of making images.
  • Listening to books on Audible - Business, Sci-Fi and Mysteries

About Stephanie:

Stephanie started out in real estate and will still look at houses on the market daily... she photographed high-end homes for a living before falling in love with weddings when I brought her with me as a second photographer while we were dating. She's obsessed with the details and making sure that we communicate clearly and often so you never feel like you're in need of getting or giving us the information we all need to be successful.
Things Stephanie loves:
  • Being a mom - she's always the first to volunteer, loves being a part of the planning, and does almost anything in her power to make people happy.
  • Traveling anywhere, especially someplace new
  • Being best friends with her sisters and her mom
  • Home improvement projects
  • Making candy: lollipops, turtles, caramel you name it
  • Real estate (read: loves to stalk new listings)

Some BTS of our family… some from our adventures and then a few of my favorite landscapes

Here is a small gallery with some of my favorite landscapes mostly from trips over the last couple of years to visit our national parks. I’ve been to 41 parks so far and I plan to see them all… maybe twice.
